ViralVector is a Chrome extension that collects selected follower or following records, saves them in a local browser workspace, and exports supported fields to CSV. You choose the account and data type. The records you can collect depend on your current Instagram session, account visibility, content availability, and Instagram's response at the time of collection.
This is more than a one-click file download. You can keep selected audience records alongside accounts, posts, media, comments, hashtags, and saved account updates, creating a reusable local research library instead of starting from an empty spreadsheet every time.
Export followers or following—without mixing the two
Followers and following answer different research questions, so ViralVector keeps them as separate audience sets and CSV export types.
- Followers are accounts shown as following the selected source account in the accessible Instagram response.
- Following are accounts the selected source account is shown as following in the accessible Instagram response.
Choose the list that matches your task, review the saved records, and export the selected set. Do not treat either file as a guaranteed complete account graph. Private-account access, session state, Instagram availability, current product limits, and platform responses can affect the result.
What the follower CSV can contain
When Instagram returns the fields and ViralVector saves them, a follower or following CSV can include:

The CSV contains fields available in the current implementation. It does not include reach, impressions, saves, shares, audience demographics, email addresses, phone numbers, or a prediction about which account will follow or unfollow next.
How the Instagram follower export works
1. Sign in to Instagram normally in Chrome
ViralVector uses the Instagram session already available in your browser. It does not ask you to submit your Instagram password to ViralVector.
The extension may temporarily read the availability of local authentication information to make requests from the signed-in session. Do not describe this as “no login required” or as never touching any session-related information.
2. Choose the source account and audience type
Select an Instagram account you are authorized to research, then choose Followers or Following. ViralVector does not automatically decide which accounts you should study.
Access to private accounts or restricted information depends on what the signed-in Instagram session can legitimately view. A username being visible does not guarantee that every follower or following record will be available.
3. Collect the accessible records you need
Start the collection explicitly. ViralVector paces requests and can pause after certain login, verification, rate-limit, feedback, or challenge responses from Instagram.
Request pacing reduces aggressive request behavior; it does not make collection risk-free, undetectable, or guaranteed to finish. Instagram may change its website, response formats, limits, or enforcement behavior at any time.
4. Review and filter the saved audience set
Saved records can be reviewed in the local browser workspace. Current fields support practical checks such as username search and available privacy or verification status.
Treat unknown values as unknown. Do not infer that a missing privacy or verification value means false, and do not turn a partial accessible set into a claim about the account's entire audience.
5. Export the selected records to CSV
Create a CSV for the saved follower or following set and use it in a spreadsheet, audit, research handoff, or other user-controlled analysis.
The current build supports CSV, not XLSX, JSON, native Google Sheets synchronization, or an automatically generated report. The main supported data exports allow up to 1,000 records per export in the current implementation. Availability and current collection limits also apply before export.

More than a disposable follower spreadsheet
An export file is useful for a handoff. A saved research workspace is useful when the question continues.
ViralVector can keep follower and following records with other selected Instagram research objects in local Chrome extension storage. Depending on the workflow and data availability, that library can also contain account profiles, saved account updates, posts or media, comments, hashtags, exports, and observations.
Use this broader workspace to:
- Keep the source account and collection time attached to an audience set.
- Revisit saved records before preparing a later export.
- Organize your own accounts, competitors, benchmarks, or creators with user-selected roles.
- Combine an audience list with separately collected content or comment evidence.
- Prepare a documented CSV handoff for a spreadsheet or research report.
The workspace does not provide cloud team projects, multi-seat permissions, client portals, automated reporting, or a guarantee that saved Instagram data remains current. A new collection or account comparison requires another explicit user action.

Create a scoped CSV handoff for account research, campaign preparation, or manual audience-overlap review. Keep the source account, collection date, and missing-data notes with the export.
The extension is a local workspace, not an agency collaboration suite. It does not include shared client projects, approvals, attribution, influencer scoring, or campaign ROI reporting.
Researchers and analysts
Prepare accessible records for user-controlled qualitative or quantitative analysis. Document the collection method, visibility constraints, timestamps, and missing values before drawing conclusions.
An accessible Instagram audience set is not automatically representative, exhaustive, academically valid, or legally appropriate for every use. Researchers remain responsible for their method and data handling.

Local-first data handling, stated precisely
In the current release code path, collected Instagram content is stored in Chrome extension storage and IndexedDB on the user's device. ViralVector does not ask the user to submit an Instagram password, and the current release does not send Instagram content, account identifiers, exports, cookies, or authentication tokens to ViralVector servers.
“Local-first” does not mean offline or that data can never leave the extension:
- Fresh collection requests go to Instagram using the available signed-in browser session.
- A CSV leaves extension storage when the user exports and saves it.
- Selected media downloads may retrieve files from Instagram or Meta CDN domains.
- Data can enter a compatible local AI client if the user separately enables the optional MCP connection.
Link the words extension privacy details to /extension/privacy/ only after the policy has legal approval, is publicly deployed, and matches the released extension. Until then, keep the explanation above visible on the product page and do not use absolute claims such as “100% private,” “anonymous,” or “no data ever leaves your device.”
Availability, access, and account-risk limits
The result of any Instagram follower export depends on factors outside ViralVector's control, including:
- Whether the user is signed in to Instagram in Chrome.
- Whether the source account and requested records are visible to that session.
- Whether Instagram returns the requested fields and pages.
- Current collection and export limits.
- Login, verification, rate-limit, feedback, challenge, or request-rejection responses.
- Changes to Instagram's website, data formats, access controls, or enforcement practices.
Collection may pause, fail, or return fewer records than expected. ViralVector cannot guarantee uninterrupted access, data completeness, permanent media or profile URLs, or the status of an Instagram account.
Only collect and use information you are authorized to access. Apply the laws, contractual obligations, platform terms, privacy requirements, and internal policies relevant to your location, organization, and research purpose.

How many Instagram followers can I export?
The main supported data exports allow up to 1,000 records per export in the current build. Collection and export are also subject to session access, record availability, and Instagram responses. ViralVector should not be marketed as an unlimited exporter.
Do I need to give ViralVector my Instagram password?
No. ViralVector uses the Instagram session already signed in within Chrome and does not ask you to submit your Instagram password to ViralVector. The extension still depends on a valid Instagram session and may temporarily use locally available authentication information to make Instagram requests.
Can ViralVector export followers from a private Instagram account?
Only when the requested information is available to the current signed-in Instagram session. A private account, restricted content, session limitation, or Instagram response can prevent or reduce collection. ViralVector does not bypass access controls or guarantee private-account data.
Does ViralVector tell me who unfollowed me?
Not as a guaranteed unfollower tracker. ViralVector can save account updates and compare supported account-level fields between saved points, but that is different from continuously monitoring every follower relationship or guaranteeing a complete follower-level diff. Do not market this page for “who unfollowed me” intent.
Does ViralVector track followers in real time?
No. Collection and refreshes are explicitly requested. ViralVector can preserve saved records and compare supported fields between saved updates, but it does not provide automatic daily collection, continuous monitoring, or an always-on follower tracker.
